Logos & Icons
The logos an icons on this page include an image for a restaurant, but primarily include images created for various projects at MIT, including the and the Laboratory and Library for Engineering and Analytics of Polymers (LEAP) innovation, and the Working Group for Support Staff (WG) as executed by the Design Skills Subcommittee (DSS), a subset of the WG, which I founded and chaired, and which served to cultivate design skills of support staff who performed in a communications and/or design capacity, and to create WG branding.
The LEAP project contributed to a proposal to the National Science Foundation (NSF) for a $25M grant to execute a new innovation to polymers research. The graphics and icons for this project utilized a color pallet selected by the principal investigator of the project to visually indicate subject components applicable to each topic throughout the proposal.
LEAP Logo
This logo was created as part of a $25M grant proposal to the National Science Foundation to launch the MIT Laboratory and Library for Engineering and Analytics of Polymers innovation.

This logo was created for the MIT Working Group for Support Staff (WG). The WG is sponsored by MIT Human Resources to support professional development opportunities and introduce new initiatives.

WG Logo
(a collaborative creation)
This logo represents the first collaborative design effort of the MIT Working Group for Support Staff (WG) subcommittee, Design Skills Subcommittee, founded and chaired by yours truly! This project involved collective research, sketches, magazine clippings and brainstorming to create the image that would represent the WG. As group that represented a broad spectrum of skills comprising the MIT support staff, our team unanimously agreed that the imagery of gears play an important role in the representation all of MIT’s support staff and the integral part they play in the back end to keep the MIT machine running.

Catered to the family consumer, this logo represented a casual, sit-down restaurant one step above a fast food establishment.

Thumbnail icon to represent sustainability. A “bamboo” styled brush was applied to the parameters of the globe and continent to create an irregular, organic appearance.

Throughput Icon
Thumbnail icon to represent throughput. A textured background was used to create dimension and to emphasize the without drop shadows, as drop shadows competed for visual space. Clip art was used for the image of the protractor.

Polymer Icon
Thumbnail icon to represent polymers. The blue background of the polymer icon reflects the color and shade of one of the main proposal colors. A mixed tertiary color pallet containing analogous and complementary colors to create a three dimensional feel with receding and emerging colors and hues.

Cross-functionality Icon
Thumbnail icon to represent cross functionality among bioengineering tools. Clip art was used to represent the five main tools. The imagery of the gears was blurred to create the illusion of motion.
